A variety of services is offered through the Core and the Pathology Laboratories.  Over 2,000,000 tests are performed annually.

The Blood Procurement Center for outpatient testing is open from 7:00a.m. to 6:00p.m., Monday to Friday, without appointment.

The Core Laboratory provides physicians with accurate data by analyzing a variety of samples in haematology, biochemistry, endocrinology, immunology, blood bank and microbiology.

The CytologyLaboratory provides diagnoses from PAP tests and from tumour samples. The Pathology Laboratory performs over 100 autopsies a year and processes more than 17,000 surgical specimens a year. The autopsy service emphasizes medical quality assurance and teaching.

All laboratories are committed to providing quality services. The SMHC laboratory is the only laboratory in Quebec accredited by the College of American Pathologists, ensuring standards of excellence, competency of staff and close monitoring of equipment.
