The development of high quality research is one of the Hospital’s top priorities, especially in light of its recent designation as a Centre hospitalier affilié universitaire (CHAU), which requires a substantial increase in externally-funded research based at the Hospital. Objective of the competition
Each pilot project may cover a period up to 1 year, and may comprise, but should not be limited to: preparatory work (e.g. review of the literature, expert consultation). Funding availableFor the 2009-10 competition, $80,000 is available from a general pool of funds to support projects in clinical epidemiology and health services research that are consistent with the research mission of the Hospital. Up to $20,000 may be allocated per project. EligibilityInvestigators affiliated with McGill or another university may apply, on condition that the Principal Investigator is on the St. Mary’s Hospital staff and/or is an Associate Member of the Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Community Studies, and that the project must take place at the St. Mary’s. Investigators who are funded in one year are not eligible to apply for another grant from this competition for the subsequent 2 years. For example, if an investigator is funded in 2008, s/he can only apply for another grant from this competition as early as 2011. In addition, only one project per investigative team will be allocated.
