Research review at St. Mary's Hospital CenterSubmitting your research protocol for review can often be a frustrating and intimidating process! Regardless of the type of study, there are always certain policies and procedures that need to be followed. By law, all research protocols must be registered with the Research Review Office, and must be reviewed and approved by the Research Ethics Committee of St. Mary’s Hospital. Projects may not begin until they have received Full Institutional Approval by St. Mary’s Hospital. Our staff are willing to support and guide you through all of the important steps of submitting your protocol for review and approval in a timely and efficient manner.
Research Ethics CommitteeThe Research Ethics Committee is an administrative body established to protect the rights and welfare of human subjects in research activities conducted under the auspices of the Hospital. The Research Ethics Committee is under the authority of the Board of Directors of the St. Mary’s Hospital. Please click here to view the current membership of the Research Ethics Committee. Regulatory Framework in Health ResearchThe Regulatory Framework incorporates an integrated set of research policy and procedures, in keeping with the Plan d’action ministériel en éthique de la recherche et en intégrité scientifique, and the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans. Since approved research at St. Mary’s Hospital becomes the responsibility of the Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital researchers are required to follow the procedures described in the Regulatory Framework. Please click here to download an abridged copy of the most recent version of the Framework, approved by St. Mary's Hospital Center Board of Directors. The full version is available for reference in the Research Review Office.
