Cancer Care fund services

Created in 1981, the Fund has as its mission to provide direct and indirect support or improved cancer care when additional funding is necessary..  It is managed by a committee composed of persons representating all divisions of Cancer Care.

 Main areas of utilization of the fund are:

• Patient support services
o Lymphedema therapy
o Yoga
o Music Therapy
o Massage Therapy
o Bereavement Program
o Transportation

• Education
o CME for nurses, doctors and support staff
o Oncology Nursing certification
o Palliative Care Nursing certification

• Equipment
o Additional equipment for Cancer Care Program

• Research:
o Research activities directly related to cancer care supervised by the Department  of Epidemiology at  SMHC

Although donations can be made year-round, the Cancer Care Program holds its annual fundraiser, The Harvestfest,  in the fall in the form of a dinner/dance.  All donations can be made out to the:
 SMHC Foundation, Cancer Care Fund and mailed directly to the  Foundation of SMH, 3830 Lacombe Avenue, Montreal, H3T 1M5.
