SMHC 2013 Nursing Awards of Excellence

The Council of Nurses of SMHC awarded its Nursing Awards of Excellence during the National Nursing Week celebrations, which took place in May.

These awards aim at honoring the commitment, the initiative and the excellence of St. Mary’s nursing staff and their partners in practice by highlighting the actions, the accomplishments and the commitment of the award winners in the various categories.

This year, the winners are:

Julio Macaraig, Intensive Care Unit, for the category of Nursing Practice;
Adelia Santos-Sinclaire, Dialysis, for the category of Nursing Education;
Elaine Santos, 5 Main, for the category of Nursing New Grad;
Elizabeth Carvalho, Dialysis, for the category of Nursing Leadership;
Arianthi Kourakis, Dialysis, for the category of Partners in Practice.

During the National Nursing Week celebrations, Linda Bambonye, on behalf of all St. Mary’s Hospital Center’s nursing staff, thanked Caroline Emblem, past President of the Auxiliary, for the creation of the bursary “Past Presidents of St. Mary’s Auxiliary Bursary for Nursing”. The funds will be used for advancing nursing practice and to support professional growth.
